Blog Prompt 4: Imagining Your Commonplace Argument

Find an image that represents your Commonplace argument. Your image should not just demonstrate your subject matter but what you are arguing about your subject matter. This image can be a digital image you find on the web or a graphic from a print publication. It can also be an image that you have created using image editing software like Photoshop. You do not need to write anything about your image, but you should think about the following questions and be prepared to discuss them in class:

Think about what you are focusing on as you create your image. How are you focusing on the most compelling and significant aspects of your argument? To what extent can you graphically convey what is timely, relevant, and compelling about your textual argument? How isa graphic argument similar and different from a textual argument? How does communicating your argument graphically clarify and/or complicate your textual argument?
